These terms apply to acemeded.com, including the Against the Curve blog and the OrthoSCORER course (together, "the site"). The site is run by Mehdi "AC" Talle ("AceMedEd", "we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Educational use only, not medical advice

Everything on the site is for general education: how learning works, how to study, and orthopedic training topics. It is not medical advice, not a substitute for professional judgment, and not a guide to caring for any particular patient. Clinicians and trainees remain responsible for their own decisions and should follow their institution's protocols, supervisors and current guidelines. Nothing on the site creates a doctor-patient relationship.

Learning-science findings come from published research with real limits, which our posts try to state. Results vary between people, and we can't promise any score, grade, match or outcome from using our material.

Accuracy and corrections

We work to cite sources and represent them fairly, but research changes and mistakes happen. Content is provided "as is". If you find an error, tell us through the contact page and we'll review it.

Your use of the site

You agree not to:

  • copy, republish or sell site content beyond what's allowed below;
  • scrape the site or use automated tools that burden it;
  • try to get around the OrthoSCORER members' area or share your login;
  • use the contact form or any feature to send spam, unlawful material, or patient information.

Accounts (OrthoSCORER)

If you create an account, keep your login details secure and give accurate information. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Optional support payments

OrthoSCORER is free to use. You can choose to support it with a one-time payment or a recurring (subscription) payment. Recurring supporters also receive two extra newsletter issues a month; nothing else on the site depends on paying.

  • Not tax-deductible. AceMedEd is not a registered charity, so support payments are not charitable donations for tax purposes.
  • Recurring payments renew automatically at the amount and interval you chose until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account or through the contact page; cancellation stops future charges, and you keep the supporter newsletters until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds. Support payments are generally non-refundable, but if you were charged by mistake or forgot to cancel, contact us within 30 days and we'll make it right.
  • Payments are processed by Squarespace's payment partners (Stripe or PayPal) under their terms.

Content and copyright

The text, graphics, carousels, videos and course materials on the site belong to AceMedEd or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You're welcome to:

  • share links to any post;
  • quote short excerpts with clear credit and a link back;
  • use material in your own teaching (for example, pointing students to a post or showing a slide in class) with credit to AceMedEd.

For anything beyond that, such as republishing whole posts, translating them, or using course materials commercially, ask us first at acemeded@gmail.com.

Studies, figures and quotations from other authors remain the property of their publishers and are used for commentary and education.

Links to other sites

We link to journals, publishers and other sites so you can check our sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or practices.

Disclosures

AceMedEd was founded by AC Talle, who also co-founded Wimble, an orthopedic education web application, and is a junior author at Orthobullets. AceMedEd currently has no sponsors and uses no affiliate links. If that changes, sponsored content and affiliate links will be labeled clearly where they appear.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, AceMedEd isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, if anything, in the 12 months before the claim.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
